Resurrection (2022-2023)

The Art of Rebirth

Havlíček’s *Resurrection* series stands as a testament to the profound metamorphosis of an artist who has been reshaped by the relentless forces of change. In this body of work, he does not merely depict transformation—he embodies it. These paintings are born from the ashes of a life that was overturned, unraveled, and ultimately reimagined. What once felt stable and certain was shattered, forcing Havlíček to abandon the familiar, break free from past formulas, and surrender to the unknown.

The past three years have been nothing short of a personal and creative upheaval, a maelstrom that demanded reinvention. Faced with the necessity to start anew, he did not merely adapt—he resurrected. The act of creation became his sanctuary, a space where destruction and rebirth coexisted. In this crucible of reinvention, his emotions, raw and untamed, found their way onto the canvas, forging new meanings from pain, resilience, and discovery. Like a phoenix rising from its own demise, a fresh artistic vitality emerged, imbued with greater depth and an unyielding sense of purpose.

Within *Resurrection*, abstraction remains Havlíček’s primary language, an ethereal conduit through which he unshackles himself from the constraints of logic, structure, and expectation. These works are not confined by external appearances but instead flow with the pulse of energy, emotion, and time itself. The enigmatic nature of time, an ever-fleeting yet eternal force, is subtly woven into each composition. To Havlíček, time is not a linear progression but an infinite sequence of present moments—each consumed in its ephemeral blaze, only to be replaced by the next. This transient rhythm is inscribed within the calligraphic elements of his paintings, echoing the impermanence of existence and the ceaseless movement of the universe.

Havlíček uses real gold and silver paint to emphasize the stellar quality of the subjects he depicts in these paintings. This choice underscores the preciousness of life, the finite resource of time we are all dealt, placing time above all the material commodities humanity so often strives for. Wealth, power, and status—all pursuits that consume lifetimes—become insignificant in the face of the one truth that binds us all: time cannot be bought, borrowed, or extended beyond what we are given. Regardless of social standing, we are all destined to leave behind the material world. *Resurrection* challenges this human obsession with accumulation and instead shifts focus to what truly matters—our legacy, not in possessions, but in the impact of our actions and the way we shape the lives of others.

Yet within this ephemerality lies the essence of something eternal. Just as gold is treasured for its rarity, so too is time—a finite, irreplaceable currency of life. In *Resurrection*, Havlíček invites the viewer to contemplate this truth: to recognize the brevity of our earthly journey and, in doing so, to cherish the present as the most precious gift we possess. His art is a reminder that we, like everything in existence, are bound to the cosmic cycle of creation and dissolution. We are born of stardust, and to the stars, we shall return.

Through *Resurrection*, Havlíček does not simply reflect on transformation—he calls upon the viewer to embrace their own. His work speaks of loss, upheaval, and uncertainty, but above all, it is an ode to resilience. It is a testament to the beauty of starting anew, of shedding the past, and of rising—again and again—toward the light.
